Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority began in the late 1960’s when the Wayne County officials introduced waste water treatment for the Huron River water shed. This proposal included Wayne County, Washtenaw County and Southern Oakland County. Upon fears that a projected project to stop pollution of the Huron River would never happen, in 1972 Washtenaw County proposed a new waste water treatment plant that would be the recipient of federal funding. By 1974, Ypsilanti Community Utilities was born as a combination of the water and sewer departments. Officially, the YCUA was opened in 1982 to service the Ypsilanti Community and surrounding areas.

Automatic bank draft
At Ypsilanti Community Utilities can set your account up so that your utility bill is paid by an automatic debit from your chosen checking or savings account. Customers on the Automatic Bank Draft option will still receive their monthly billing statement so that you will know the amount that will be deducted from your account. Simply download the enrollment form here: www.ycua.org/Payment, fill out the form and fax, mail or drop it by our office. Be aware that automatic draft authorization will take up to four weeks to be approved and processed. Please use another form of payment until the authorization is complete.
